Siippa tilasi jonkin aikaa sitten itselleen pussukan, jossa voisi kätevästi kuljettaa kaikki purjelentoreissulla tarvittavat asiakirjat mukanaan. Toivotut mitat olivat 20 x 25 x 3 cm.

Toisessa, hämähäkinharmaassa lukossa on jarru, musta taas on vapaasti liikkuva.

A while ago DH ordered from me a bag where he could transport his flight documents that are needed every time when he goes soaring. Measurements would be 20 x 25 x 3 cm, otherwise I was free to do what I desired. I had been looking for a fabric with aeroplane or flying theme, but had not come across anything usable. DH is also interested in insects, mainly butterflies and moths, that he has been collecting for over 40 years now, but he knows a whole lot about other insects as well. So as I came across a black spider fabric, I figured it would do both practically and from the theme as well. And funny enough - last weekend as I started this project I recalled a photo I had transferred onto fabric as I did the wedding picture for the latest memory quilt. I had just picked a photo of my own that I thought was interesting and that filled the sheet - and it happened to be a spider from our garden!

So off I went: I had in my stash another spider fabric that was perfect for the inside of the bag and used a thinnish bag felt as batting. I free-motion quilted with black machine embroidery thread along the spider webs of the black fabric, and with invisible polyester thread along the large spider. I used continuous black zipper and inserted a slider from both ends of the zipper, so it can be opened and shut from both directions. The spider-grey slider has a brake, the black one moves freely.

I sewed the pieces together so that the seam allowances are to the right, and I then finished them with black bias binding. I also added a handle into one seam and slid a clasp into it with which the bag can be fastened to - something/somewhere...
