Tein pari harjoitusta kaarevista saumoista freezer-paperin avulla. Blokki on nimeltään omenankara, enkä voisi kyllä kuvitellakaan ompelevani sitä muuten kuin tällä tekniikalla.

Ylemmässä yhdistin tilkut käsin ommellen eli käytännössä applikoiden, alemmassa käytin ompelukonetta ja napinläpipistoa. Arvaatte varmaan kumpaan laiska ihminen jää koukkuun... Mielestäni alemmassa reunojen kaarevuus tuli paremmin esille jo ennen koneommeltakin.

Seuraavaksi tämän harjoitelman kimppuun... siis huomenna...

***********************

For teaching this autumn I made two experiments with freezer paper and applecore block. I can't imagine sewing this block with any other technique. In the upper test  I hand-sewed (appliqued) the blocks together, in the lower one I used my Bernina and blanket-stitch. I think you can guess which of the two techniques a lazy person gets hooked with... And if you look more closely, you'll notice that the blocks are not in same order. I did the hand-sewed experiment yesterday evening, but this morning I wasn't completely satisfied with it. In my opinion the machine-pieced one showed the curves more clearly even before I machinestitched them.

Now off with the second exercise... tomorrow, naturally...
