Tänään sain vihdoin peilikuva-applikaation kuvioiden reunat tikattua.

Sunnuntaina on kotiuduttava, koska maanantai on taas työpäivä.

I've made some progress with my reverse applique: I finished blanket stitching this evening. It was much more laborous that I had imagined. Tukittu I took time when doing it and with first square I spent an hour and with the last one 35 minutes. So calculating with average time I spent 7 hours appliqueing the edges!

First I planned to stitch all the edges with red machine embroidery thread, but then I changed my mind and tested several other alternatives. For some reason the blueberry blue thread was so inviting that I couldn't resist it's call but had to follow it. The photos aren't too good since I took them so late in the evening and couldn't get proper ones with flashlight. But you can see how the thread alters the colour of the red fabric so that it seems to be different from the areas stitched with the red thread, eventhough everything is the same fabric.

Now there is going to be a short break in blogging and probably also with patchwork and quilting. We are celebrating Midsummer here in Finland. Friday is national holiday here, it is the Midsummer Eve and Saturday and Sunday are first and second Midsummer days when everything is closed in Finland. Great number of us Finns start their summer vacation from this weekend as well. DH, our dear Dog and I are going to start our mobile home right after four o'clock when I'm off work and we'll head somewhere north - avoiding the main highways since they are going to be crowded till late at night, since everybody is heading for the road and the countryside. For the journey I've "armed" myself with three books from Torey Hayden. We'll be back home on  Sunday since we are not starting our holidays yet.

The beautiful flower in the picture is Japanese magnolia that I photographed last weekend in a rhododendron park. I got one such palnt from DH as wedding anniversary flower, hopefully we'll get it to bloom in our own garden as well.
