********************************************

... the mailman delivered yesterday and today the last packages for this year. Yesterday I received the order from C & T Publishing, and it was about time since it included my new quilt calendar for 2011. And the fabulous three quilting books. Yes, I know, I'm hopeless when it comes to quilting books: I've hardly done some quilts from every other book that I order, but I've read the from cover to cover and learned a whole bunch of useful tips and tricks. And they are also marvellous for my health: even browsing through them increases my endorphine levels - try and see for yourselves if you don't believe my word. Silmänisku

Today's delivery was from rapakontakaa.com, since I had for a long time drooled over the "Sew Slip" surface for smoother quilting experience. After all the pain and struggle with the two Sunbonnet Sue quilts, I decided that the time had finally come. And when ordering from afar it always makes sense to fill the order to the customs value and by doing so devide the shipping costs to several items instead of one. So I also ordered some Microtex needles (60 and 70) that somebody praised in her blog. Permanent Stabilizer from Sulky looks quite similar to the product that I once bought from a teacher when we were making the hexagon bowls. This one seems to have an even stiffer glue side, and naturally it is cheaper with even the shipping costs than it would be when purchased from a local shop. Alex Anderson's book has all the useful instructions of her way of machine and hand applique, that I've already seen in The Quilt Show. Now the information is neatly available in the book even when computer isn't available.

Yes, the old year is giving way to a new one. New year comes with new tips and tricks - even for an old hobby like quilting. Much fun it has created for me also in form of this personal quilt blog that has brought me so many nice, new friends from all over the world. I take this opportunity to express to all of my readers a heartfelt

humble thank you.

Happy New Year!
