Today I took my friend to see a teddy bear business that is run by a German lady who lives here in Finland and is married to a Finn. I learnt to know her and her business last month when we drove to the Tilkkutex quilt shop - probably the best one in Finland - that is located in Humppila. She has her studio in the same premises as the quilt shop, and she makes the most adorable teddy bears with her own designs. My friend is a devoted teddy bear fan, so I knew she would be delighted to see the place, and by the looks of her I guessed right. Hymy She bought one teddy bear kit, so she can finally have one that she has made herself. I was thinking of doing one for my nephew, but I have so many projects on hand right now, so I remained strong, and let that project wait for a while.

It's probably no surprise that this very same friend is the one who ordered the teddy bear quilt from me to give to her friend whose son was born last month. I finally got it finished today, so she could take it with her. The bowties were in the plan from the beginnig, but during the process I changed them so that they were fastened on the surface only, not under the applique. I thought it better in case they fray it's easy to take them away or replace with new ones. The tiny buttons came along as I found them in a craft shop and fell in love with them. They are only about 3 mm in diameter, so you can imagine how easy/difficult they were to handle.

I really like this quilt very much, I'm quite satisfied with the end result. So now I'm feeling a bit sad for having to part from it, and have this empty feeling like after every longer project. But I'm also relieved to have it finished, since there is another one waiting - Sunbonnet Sue this time.
